With the support of the European Union, CENN, together with partner organizations, started awareness-raising sessions for the population of Guria in various thematic areas

As part of the ongoing “Green Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth” project, supported by the European Union, CENN, in collaboration with partner organizations – the Young Pedagogues’ Union, the Institute of Democracy, and the Local Action Group of KEDA (LAG) – started sessions to raise awareness in various directions for the local population of the Guria region.

Within the framework of the project, a cycle of thematic trainings began in all three regions of Guria – Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri and Lanchkhuti. The first three sessions were held on waste management issues, which were attended by 85 residents of Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri and Lanchkhuti.

Kakha Rukhaia, an environmental protection consultant in Georgia, shared his theoretical knowledge and experience in the field of waste management with the local residents of Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri, and Lanchkhuti. The sessions covered various topics, including the amount of waste, waste classification, regulations, responsibilities, qualitative and quantitative aspects of waste, environmental aspects of waste, modern waste management technologies, opportunities for waste recovery, waste disposal practices, and perspectives.

The purpose of the training is to raise awareness among the local population regarding sustainable natural resource management, waste management, opportunities for green growth, diversification of rural economic sources, climate-smart and sustainable agricultural practices, food safety, production standards, sanitation, hygiene, and health issues.
