With the support of the European Union, CENN, together with partner organizations, continues the organizational strengthening of Guria LAGs

As part of the ongoing “Green Guria – Supporting Local Democracy and Rural Development for Inclusive and Resilient Green Growth” project, supported by the European Union, CENN, in collaboration with partner organizations—the Young Pedagogues’ Union, the Institute of Democracy, and the Local Action Group of KEDA (LAG)—continues to support LAG members in enhancing their organizational skills.

Within the project’s framework, a series of organizational training sessions continues in all three regions of Guria: Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri, and Lanchkhuti. At this stage, LAG members from all three municipalities have received training in advocacy and lobbying

Tengiz Sultanishvili, an expert on civil involvement in local self-government, shared information about the advocacy process for addressing priority community problems with members of the Ozurgeti, Chokhatauri, and Lanchkhuti Local Development Groups (LAGs). Within the framework of the workshop, participants became acquainted with the principles of local self-government, the municipality’s own and delegated powers. The trainer also provided a detailed review of the mechanisms for civil participation in local self-government as stipulated by the law, ensuring civil involvement in crucial decisions at the local level.

Additionally, during the meeting, participants discussed priority problems concerning the residents of the Guria region municipality and explored how LAGs can address them through lobbying and advocacy. The participants deliberated on the mechanisms of civic involvement, discussing how to bring priority community problems to the forefront of the local self-government agenda.
